Saturdays in Ljubljana are always packed with people. This Saturday was no different but it had an additional twist. It was Earth Day. Even though there are many events to celebrate it every year, one stands out. The city divers yearly sweep of the Ljubljanica river. It’s important to stress one thing: they do this every year, so the pile of garbage on the photos is at most one year old. Hopefully every passerby thought about that.

There was another nice gesture by the city that caught our eye. Ljubljana tourism office decided to give away potted herbs. We walked away with a pretty sage plant. Hopefully you found something for yourself as well if you happened to walk by.

All in all it was a great spring Saturday. We can’t wait for the next one. What about you?

Heidi visited the Vienna based New Sound Festival for the first time this year. Since it’s been going strong for the last two years we thought it a safe bet. Plus the ever energizing White Miles were playing!

The festival is held every year in March at the Ottakringer Brewery, an amazing and pretty much perfect venue. The highlight of the evening was (besides the already mentioned Tirolean rock duo White Miles) the performance of Joan As Police Woman and Benjamin Lazar Davis. Check them out – they just released an album called Let It Be You – you won’t be disappointed.

An already great evening was made even better when we discovered the food trucks in front. All I’m gonna say is: if you find yourself in Vienna hungry, find the Pastrami Baby guys. I promise, you won’t regret it.

We went on a hunt for a tree. Not just any tree. A tree in a Botanical garden of University of Maribor that was planted by my aunt the day my nephew was born. How cute is that?

We had a little x on a map and a photo of the tree. And we went. After surprisingly many wows and ahhs, since there are just plants, we found it. And it’s a cute little tree, with a funny name Koelreuteria paniculata.
