Constellation is the name of Kumi Yamashita’s portrait series. Each portrait is made from a single strand of thread. Kumi nailed small zinc-plated pins to a white board and then wrapped the thread around them.

Parts of the portraits are shaded differently, which Kumi succeeded in doing by using different densities of thread.
