New York’s elevated freight rail line, above the streets of Manhattan’s West Side, gave way to a public park!
The High line public park was designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, a New York architecture firm, together with a landscape architecture firm, James Corner Field Operations, who won the international tender to renovate the derelict railway line. The parks horticultural design is based on the self-seeded landscape and wild plantings that once grew on the unused High line. The park, stretching over a 2,3 kilometer area of West Side is, due to its size, being constructed in phases, with the last phase set to begin construction this year.
A truly remarkable place to hang out, located in the heart of the city. A green-iron city oasis!

Unusual, romantic and a true green journey!
