Portrait of Wildfire by Herb Williams

What happens when you have good connections at Crayola? And what happens when you want 40.000 crayons, 20.000 of them pink?

Artist Herb Williams has those connections and he used them well. He created 5 massive, flames which you can admire in the National Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock, Texas. They have been created to raise awareness of wildfires in an area that has been severely affected by drought. The sculptures have now been on display for more than a month and in time the desert heat in Texas will melt the crayons, creating new color gradients and new and exciting forms.
